Dawn and Stephen: Modern Romance Meets Historic Charm

by Amy Serrago

Dawn and Stephen met in the most modern of ways, online. When it came time to plan their wedding, Dawn knew she wanted to say “I do” at her favorite restaurant, The Oxford Exchange, a lovingly restored turn-of-the-century gem in downtown Tampa, FL. The modern industrial feeling space boasts exposed brick, marble checkerboard floors and a wall of windows that made the perfect backdrop to their traditional Jewish ceremony. Surrounded by their friends and family, they pledged their love to one another under a rustic chuppah fashioned out of branches and lush florals, while a solo violinist serenaded the group. The restaurant’s sleek design needed little in the way of enhancements, but Dawn brought her personal flair with brass candlesticks and purple flowers. Plenty of flickering votives completed the decor, casting a romantic glow over the evening.

Dawn was a knockout in her two-piece gown with its full white skirt and fitted lace bodice. She left her gorgeous blonde locks loose and flowing and carried a sweet bouquet of purple and white calla lilies and orchids. Her bridesmaids wore non-matching gowns in various shades of purple and held delicate bouquets of roses and lilies in purple and white. Stephen made a dashing groom in his three piece suit and gray striped tie. For the reception, Dawn changed into a long fitted lace skirt to match her top and when it was time to say goodnight, she donned a playful “getaway” look with a full knee-length skirt.

Dawn and Stephen had fun posing for portraits among the vintage finishings and historic photos that comprise the Oxford Exchange’s unique decor. But after dinner, they kicked off the dancing with a good luck hora that got everyone up on their feet. The newlyweds paused briefly to cut their merengue covered wedding cake, but then they were back on the dance floor sharing an evening of celebration with their guests. As the night came to a close, Dawn and Stephen made a grand exit to the vintage Bentley that was waiting to whisk them away to their honeymoon. Congratulations you two!
