Cara and Zach’s Glamorous Peacock-Themed Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Cara and Zach both have twin siblings! They met in pre-school, but lost touch as kids. When they reconnected after college, they realized they had more in common than just genetics and their friendship soon turned to romance. Zach loves animals and Cara has a knack for “living life out loud”, so they decided to include peacock feathers in their wedding decor. Their wedding day started with first looks atop their Philadelphia venue, the Cira Centre, with the city skyline creating a picture perfect backdrop. After the couple signed their Ketubbah, a traditional Jewish marriage contract, they held a traditional Jewish ceremony. It took place under a chuppah draped with flowing white sheers and decorated with lush white florals and peacock feather accents. An acoustic guitarist serenaded them as they exchanged vows and as the ceremony concluded, Zach stomped on a glass to a resounding “Mazel Tov” from their friends and family.

Cara’s gown was an absolute knockout. She was stunning in the fully beaded Alon Livne piece with its sexy sheer bodice and unique straps. She finished her look with a fingertip veil and a diamond tennis bracelet that her “twin-of-honor” had given her. Her bridesmaids played up the peacock theme in different shades of teal, reminiscent of the resplendent birds’ feathers. Each lady chose her own style to bring out her own unique beauty, but they all carried sweet bouquets of white florals and greenery with lilies and roses and, of course, peacock feathers. Zach and his guys were dapper in classic black tuxes. Zach chose a sleek, slim-cut suit from Boyd’s, for a glamorous, urban-chic look.

At the reception, tables were set with crisp white linens and gray napkins. A combination of tall and short centerpieces gave the room dynamics and the floral theme of white, greenery and peacock accents carried through from the ceremony. Crystal accents and floating candles in tall vases brought the sparkle and white draping added romance. The beautiful Philadelphia skyline threatened to steal the show, but once Cara and Zach entered to their first dance, all eyes were on the happy couple. To get the party started, guests danced a traditional good luck hora and after dinner Cara and Zach cut their four-tiered wedding cake. For extra sweetness, the newlyweds served donuts from Federal donuts and for a salty snack there were pretzels from Philly pretzels. Cara, who is a huge foodie, wanted to make sure she showcased some of the best treats her city has to offer. The couple gave out handmade coasters as favors and Cara’s dad took a rocking sax solo in the middle of his speech. Congratulations Cara and Zach!
