Meredith and Matthew’s Glamorous Winter Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Meredith calls Matthew a “closet romantic”. His grand romantic gestures are rare, but he went all out for his proposal! He and Meredith drove to the beach one night, supposedly to watch a friend compete in a boot camp style challenge called a “goruck”. Matthew is ex-military, so this type of activity isn’t out of the ordinary, but when they arrived at the beach, several of Matt’s other friends were also there. Standing, silent on the beach. Meredith says she thought it was odd that they weren’t “shouting while doing pushups or something”. Then Matthew gave her a glow stick and asked her to throw it as far as she could. When it landed, the guys flipped on head lamps and began serenading her with “Stand by Me” – the couple’s song. When they finished, Matthew got down on one knee and asked Meredith to be his wife. Of course, she said yes!

Meredith and Matt said “I do” at the luxurious Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville, NC. The hotel’s stunning interior was enhanced by lush florals and a white, green and gold color story. They exchanged vows beside a winter white altar decorated with birch branches and twinkle lights. Meredith was gorgeous in her traditional gown with its lace bodice, off-the-shoulder cut and long sleeves. Her bridesmaids brought the sparkle in gold sequins and Matthew and his guys were dashing in classic black tuxedos.

The reception space was decked out with tall centerpieces of white florals with greenery and black tablecloths were an upscale touch. The seating chart was placed in a gilded frame and family wedding photos were lovingly displayed. Friends and family had fun snapping polaroids for the guest book and the live band, Still Cruzin’, kept the dance floor packed all night. Congratulations Meredith and Matthew!
