Longwood Gardens Engagement: Brittney & Dwayne

Photos and story by J&J Studios, LLC

Brittney and Dwayne’s story:

1. How did you and your fiance meet?

My cousin was visiting her boyfriend in Philadelphia. She and Dwayne had some mutual friends and met up at a bar and she told Dwayne about me, vetted him out, and gave me his phone number. I text Dwayne the next day and we talked for a few weeks and then I flew to Philadelphia to meet him in person and we clicked immediately and started a long-distance relationship. I relocated from Boston to Philadelphia in 2018 and…

2. What do you love most about your partner?

As my family would say, “he is my right hand.” I love how supportive and nurturing he is, very patient, will do anything to make me happy

3. How did he propose?

We are huge football fans and my family was in town for the Eagles vs. Patriots game. He proposed the day before the game and got me out of the house while he stayed behind with family and friends to setup. When I returned home with our mothers, I opened the door to our favorite song playing, rose petals on the floor, and lit up marquee letters that said: “Marry me?”

4. What was your inspiration for the engagement photos?

We incorporated our favorite colors purple and grey. We were going for a formal and casual look to have some variations.

5. (Have you started wedding planning) If so, how has your experience been so far?

We are in the very early stages of wedding planning as we have a few other weddings this year. However, we have our colors and theme narrowed down, surprisingly the hardest part is deciding on whether or not we want a bridal party.

6. How was your experience working with your engagement photographer?

The photographer was great and captured everything we were looking for as far as lighting, poses, and candid moments.

7. Share some quirky facts about you.

-At one point, I owned over 100 pair of shoes

-I like to consider myself a foodie despite my cheese allergy

-Both of our mothers are one of ten children and the eighth youngest; I have over 30+ first cousins on my mom’s side alone
