Philadelphia Museum of Art and Waterworks Engagement: Darina & Elias

Story and photos by J&J Studios, LLC

Darina answers a few questions about her fiancee:

1. How did you and your fiance meet?

We met on a birthday trip to Las Vegas for a mutual friend about 5 years ago. I didn’t know he was interested in me at all until about 2 years later when we began our relationship.

2. What do you love most about your partner?

He is always listening even when you think he isn’t. He’s definitely one of those people that will buy the gift that you talked about 5 months prior. He’s also extremely resilient in any situation. I truly admire that about him.

3. How did he propose?

He proposed at a restaurant in DC while we were celebrating my birthday with friends. At the end of the dinner, my best friend gave a speech and he followed with his own speech. The waiter put a plate in front of me with cheesecake and it says Marry Me? At the same time he got on one knee and asked if I will marry him.

4. What was your inspiration for the engagement photos?

We like to picnic around this area and found it to be a beautiful place for our pictures.

5. (Have you started wedding planning) If so, how has your experience been so far?

We have started wedding planning but it’s been a slow process since the pandemic. Hopefully, within the next few months, we will begin to do more.

6. How was your experience working with your engagement photographer?

He was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. The concepts and the outcomes were amazing in our opinion. So excited to see the pictures as well as working with him during our wedding.

7. Share some quirky facts about you.

I love action and sci-fi movies/television. I’ve watched all of the Marvel movies as well as all the Harry Potter movies. I am addicted to playing the sims since I’ve been quarantined for 4 months. My favorite snack is either pickles or cucumbers.
