Emily and Matthew met in biology class on their first day of high school and began dating their freshman year. When Matt’s family had to move back to New York, they decided to date long-distance for several years. They made sure to never go more than two months without seeing each other. The couple spent a weekend together in St. Augustine, Florida, where Matt was attending school. On the last evening of the trip, they visited a favorite spot at Anastasia State Park for sunset. No one else was there that evening. It was just pink skies, their sweet dog Romeo, and a surprise proposal.
This couple’s wedding at Little River Farms was a peaceful, wintery retreat with an earthy and organic feel. A priority for Emily and Matthew was to utilize local artists and women-owned businesses for their vendors. Elements from artwork to their attire were purchased locally and with intentionality. The invitations were even done by Emily’s aunt in stunning watercolors and playful handwritten fonts. Indoors, the hearth provided the perfect gathering space to hold their ceremony. Greenery was hung along a natural stone fireplace, illuminated by candles. Moments of pinecones and cedar boughs were tastefully woven into fresh greenery and white florals. Lighting was a key element for their reception, which included the glow of candles, chandeliers, and string lights. Tablescapes aligned with the delicate winter theme. They were detailed in wispy fabric runners, candles, and soft winter swags of greenery. Emily wore a timeless, strapless mikado ballgown, and she later donned a stunning chiffon caplet with scattered pearl detailing.
