A new bridal salon will open its doors this month in Northern Virginia. Bella Chic Luxe Bridal, located at 13895 Hedgewood Drive, Studio 341 in Woodbridge, will make its arrival on Wednesday, July 23rd, with a grand reveal party from 3-6pm. From July 23 through 28, Bella Chic Luxe Bridal is hosting a Winnie Couture trunk show, featuring samples from the Blush Label Collection.
Bella Chic Luxe Bridal is owned by event planner Towanna Burthey, who has a passion for fashion. Ms. Burthey has been in love with bridal fashion she says, “Forever.” The Alexandria native would “wander into bridal salons” in Old Town after finishing her day at TC Williams High School, admiring the beautiful gowns at Hannelore’s and Ellie’s Bridal.
And while she loved fashion, she also knew she needed to heed the advice of her grandmother and “get a good job.” For a dozen years Towanna worked as a legal assistant in a law firm. And during that time, she also began planning weddings, taking her clients to the same shops she loved as a teenager. In addition to her full time job and event planning business, Towanna also penned fashion articles for an Atlanta publication.
In 2013, Towanna left her day job to focus on her event planning business, now named Bella Chic Luxe Events, and to open her boutique, Bella Chic Luxe Bridal. “I wanted a name that reflected Italian culture and fashion,” says Towanna. “Bella chic means beautiful style.”
When it comes to selecting a wedding gown, Towanna has this advice: “Select early, at least 5-6 months in advance. Keep an open mind on the silhouette and go with what makes you feel gorgeous and sexy.” And as for those bridesmaids? “Put them in the same color and fabrication but in styles that complement each body type. An A-line dress is flattering to everyone. When shopping, bring your curviest bridesmaid with you. If it looks good on her, it will look good on everyone.
