Katie and Chris said “I do” with a backdrop of stunning views of Upstate New York’s iconic Hudson River Valley. Katie says, “it was everything I ever imagined, and more. I loved the feeling of being in one place, with everyone I love and planning for the wedding was actually easier than I thought.” Their venue, The Garrison offers such amazing views and its floor to ceiling windows allow for so much natural light that this easygoing bride “didn’t have to much for decorations.”
However, Katie still put her “very handy” dad to work on some of the details and last minute decorative touches. He made all of the wooden log centerpieces, the escort card frame, and the welcome sign easel that greeted guests upon arrival.
Katie knew she didn’t want all of her bridesmaids to be in the same dress, so she decided to mix and match her bridesmaids’ dresses in blush pinks, soft greys, and floral designs. For herself, she chose a classically elegant mermaid cut gown in soft lace with gorgeous sheer detailing in the back and wore her hair long, flowing and veil-free! Chris and his groomsmen looked handsome in navy blue suits and white ties, Chris in a bowtie, his guys in long ones. Katie chose neutral toned florals in blush and white with pops of pink and plenty of lush greenery.
At the reception, in addition to dinner, toasts and dancing, Chris and the guys shared cigars on The Garrison’s outdoor patio and Katie, a self proclaimed candy lover, “absolutely had to have a candy bar at the wedding”! It was a huge hit with the bride, and the guests loved it too. Katie calls it “the perfect ending to our beginning.”
