Alexandra and Craig: Rustic Chic With DIY Details

It was really important to both Alexandra and Craig that their wedding day be a reflection of their personal style. That’s why they chose to put so many DIY touches in as many places as they could. We’re glad they did, this wedding is so inspiring! They chose Walker’s Overlook for the natural beauty of the landscape and took their decor cues from there, starting with the floral draped chandelier they hung in the tree under which their outdoor ceremony took place.

After the ceremony, and pictures on the grounds with their wedding party, Alexandra and Craig headed into the reception tent which had been lovingly decorated by the guys. They draped hanging floral garland all across the tent, a colorful and unique touch that really dressed up the stark white ceiling, giving the space a feeling of joy and celebration.

Alexandra looked beautiful in her lace gown with its beaded detailing, delicate straps and sweetheart neckline. Pairing it with a long veil added drama to her look. The bridesmaids wore different styles of flowing gowns in the same shade of pale teal and the groomsmen were handsome in gray suits with coordinating ties. Craig stood out in a white tie to match his gorgeous bride. Delicate floral centerpieces in shades of pink and blush with feather accents completed the decor and Alexandra made sure she was prepared for whatever the weather might bring.

“I had umbrellas for the rain. I had blankets for cold.” Both of which came in handy when it was time for the surprise fireworks show Craig’s parents organized for after the cake cutting. The rain started to pick up just as the show was supposed to begin. “The guests didn’t hesitate for a minute. We all grabbed the umbrellas and squeezed under blankets to watch the fireworks together. It was an awesome moment that wasn’t what some would consider ‘perfect’ but it was pretty darn close”, says Alexandra. After the fireworks, it was back to the tent to dance the night away to the rockin’ sounds of the Kanye Twitty Band, just proving that a little rain can’t dampen a truly wonderful celebration!
