Jessica and Talia’s Literary Themed Garden Wedding

by Amy Serrago

When Talia proposed to Jessica, she created a scavenger hunt through their hometown, Atlanta, leading Jessica to significant places from throughout their relationship. They started with their favorite Thai takeout place, then went on to a picnic with friends in their favorite hiking spot. Each stop held a memory of a moment when Talia was sure that Jessica was the one and a poem leading to the next stop. They hit Mellow Mushroom (the restaurant where they first met) and finally ended up at the Botanical Gardens where Talia proposed. On their wedding day, they exchanged vows under a stately old oak tree in New Orleans City Park. They were surrounded by friends and family and after their first married kiss, they posed for portraits in the gardens outside their reception venue, the Lath House.

Both brides were absolutely radiant. Jessica’s A-line gown featured a lace bodice with an open back and delicate cap sleeves and Talia’s lace gown boasted a strapless sweetheart neckline and sparkling details. Both ladies carried bouquets of day lilies and red roses and the wedding party looked fabulous! The ladies in bold shades of red and the guys in blue suits with red ties.

Their reception had a meaningful, bookish theme. Each table held stacks of books from the couple’s personal library. One stack to represent Jessica and one to represent Talia. A third stack of books signified their union, including the book of the movie they saw on their first date! Floral accents mimicked those found in the bridal bouquets and as well as a traditional book, guests signed wooden puzzle pieces. At the end of the night Talia and Jessica exited through a shower of red rose petals as their loved ones saw them off. Congratulations, you two!
