DIY Boho Backyard Wedding: Chelsea & Brad

Story and photos by Dani Nicole Photography  This was another one of my COVID affected couples who decided to turn the lemons life handed them into celebratory lemonade. They rescheduled their big wedding to the fall, but wanted to still get married on their original wedding date, so over the course of a few weeks, they planned an intimate gathering that turned out to be simply breathtaking. In the backyard of Brad’s cousin’s (the officiant) townhome, Chelsea set up a DIY ceremony area lush with pampas grasses, white ceramic vases, and candles, and created a modest boutonniere for her groom. They draped gauze fabric over copper rods and borrowed a large area rug from the neighbor. Set against a sprawling ivy-covered brick wall in soft filtered sunlight, it was the perfect area to exchange vows. Speaking of that rug-lending neighbor …

Country Club Wedding: Mimi & Paul

Photos and story by Gabriel Conover Photography  I have not shot many weddings at country clubs before, but Alta Vista Country Club was just absolutely beautiful. It’s so easy to take the beauty that is right next to us for granted. Mimi and Paul met me for their engagement shoot at Crystal Cove a few months before the wedding. We talked a lot and shared as much as we could about our lives in the couple of hours we got together. The beach was peaceful and serene. There were not many people there and the weather was so kind to us. Their wedding day was even more wonderful. The tears were all real! The ceremony was focused on Mimi and Paul’s relationship together and with God. Alta Vista Country Club truly provided the most beautiful ceremony site for these two …

Waterfront Sunset Engagement: Philippson and Brenna

Philippson and Brenna have been dating for 7 years before he finally decided to *pop the question* on the day before Thanksgiving right in front of Brenna’s fourth-grade students! Along with two of her favorite past students to accompany him during our big moment. It was very appropriate for him to ask her in school as they went to the same high school together.  Although he had a failed attempt at talking to her back in the day (or so he says… She recalls no such encounter) they reconnected a few years later when they began secretly dating. And here they are! Since they have been together for so long, their engagement has been moving pretty quickly. Their winery wedding is set for 11/28/20.

A Tahitian Anniversary Surprise

By: Dana Franklin, Independent Travel Advisor, Divine Destination Weddings & Honeymoons I surprised my husband for our 37th anniversary with a 17 day trip to French Polynesia.  We started the trip flying Poerava business class on Air Tahiti Nui for the 8 hour non-stop flight from Los Angeles.  Upon arrival into Pape’ete, the country’s capital and international airline hub, we transferred to an inter-island airline and flew to Rangiroa, one of the outer islands about 220 miles northeast of Pape’ete, where we spent two nights at the fabulous Kia Ora Resort & Spa. We went to the Blue Lagoon where we experienced a motu picnic and snorkeled with reef sharks and 6′ – 8′ lemon sharks! We also did a wine tasting at the only winery in French Polynesia! After flying back to Pape’ete, we boarded the Paul Gauguin, a …

COVID-19 Elopement: Kylee & James

Photos and story by Lisa Gemperline Photography Kylee and James had a wedding date planned then COVID-19 came along and they were married sooner than their wedding day with just their parents, a preacher, and a videographer.  They wanted to have landscape wedding photos once her dress was altered.    She was not married in this dress because her dress had not come in time for the sudden ceremony.  It was one of the most beautiful nights I’ve ever seen on the island and I can’t think of these pictures being taken on any other night so it must have meant to be.

A MidSummer’s Wedding Dream: Madison & Drew

Story and photos by Brandy Angel Photography Madison is a bride that is used to overcoming hard things. She has had two open-heart surgeries since she was born and is undergoing her third this December. When she began planning her dream wedding to her high school sweetheart she had no idea that she would be dealing with a worldwide pandemic, nationwide protests, and CDC guidelines that caused her to cut down her guest list to 40 people and find a new venue just two weeks before her wedding date. Luckily her father’s friend had the perfect place for their wedding and everything came together seamlessly. Mother Nature even delivered the most perfect sunset I’ve seen all year.  It just goes to show that no matter what happens on your wedding day that seems like it could ruin everything if you …
